New build motor vehicle workshop
Project: Motor Vehicle Workshop
Client: West Cheshire College
The new building, which is 360 metres square, reflects a real-life working garage and is equipped with five car ramps, a MOT bay, engine rigs for diagnostic work and can fit up to 10 cars at any one time.
The construction of the new workshop called for the erection of a steel portal frame, which was then covered by energy efficient block walls and metal cladding. A fully installed concrete slab was cast and one MOT vehicle bay installed with exhaust extraction.
An office area was also constructed to provide a customer service point and administration facilities for college staff along with associated WC facilities and a reception entrance.
External areas were designed to fit in with the new college building and provided the area with eye catching soft landscaping comprising of planting and shrubbery giving the finial construction an aesthetically pleasing finish.
The facilities and size of the workshop make it look and feel like a garage, creating a realistic working environment to prepare students for work, achieving the College’s overall goal of providing a better learning experience for students.
